I am looking at Edinburgh Academy Junior school for my daughter. I'd heard some critical reports about girls, but wonder if this is true? I have friends with sons there, but no girls. any insights to share please?

I have heard similar stories, but never first hand iyswim. I know a few people who have girls (and boys) there and they are very happy with it. Granted, it started as a boy's school and as such it went through a transition period. I think you just need to go along and have a look. The great thing about Edinburgh is that you have such a wide choice of schools. I would advise you go along to the ones which suit you from a location point of view and see what you think.

My friend's daughter is there and seems to love it. She's in primary one and apparently there are more girls than boys in her year.
