If you're looking for something to do between Saturday 31st August and 15th September, keep your eyes peeled for the 'Flavour Fortnight' brochure which you can find all over the region in shops and tourism information centres. Also their website www.flavourfortnight.co.uk is great and tells you all about it. They have 90 separate food related events taking place right across the region - many of which you can take the family to. There's a children's Chocolate Workshop, an Ice Cream Mystery to solve at the Castle Douglas Toffee Shop,a great Burger Making AND Tasting session in Dumfries plus a whole lot more. If you can spare the time there are lots of events for adults to enjoy on your own as well. This is possibly the best food festival in Scotland and it's growing in popularity every year so I'd suggest you try at least one of the events yourself. Some of them are free and some cost about £10 - depends on length and nature of event but it's all on the website and in the programme.
