Private Schools Bromley

Hi everyone,

our daughter got accepted at a good primary state school for reception this year, but we are debating sending her to a private school because of the small classrooms and the better after school care.

Our first choice is Bishops Challoner. My main reservations are:

1. Limited playground for the Primary school

1. Lots of sharing facilities with the Secondary school

1. Non separate play area for reception

1. Not excellent academic record - no preparation for 11+ exam not great record in GCSEs

Anyone who has experience with this school can you please advise?

Hi, I've had two children go through Bishop Challoner Junior School and it was a great school for both of them. They have a wonderfully caring environment and pupils are really happy. They work hard too and with the new head I'm sure things can only get better. Would really recommend this school.

Hi, my DS is starting at Bishop Challoner after half term in Year2, the travel to work from the school is a nightmare for us and would love to know if anyone traveling from Orpington to the school would be interested in providing a lift club? I don't mind paying or even sharing the school drop off.

My DD has been in independent education throughout primary. Her first school Farringtons suited Her perfectly, small classes, good teaching, good ethos. She thrived and we never regret the head start she got. However she out-grew the school. I know many who are still there and happy, but, not bragging, our daughter surprised us by excelling and being so far ahead of her peers she was out of place. We reluctantly moved her and she is enjoying Bromley High now. So go with your gut instinct about what is right for your child and be prepared that as children grow their needs change. I wanted to replicate for my daughter the stable education of 'one primary, one secondary' I had, but I now realise that was ok for me, but not for her.

Wickham Court is the best kept secret of Bromley

Hi there tanyaadel - I've been looking for some parent's feedback about Wickham Court School. I'm considering sending our daughter there from year 7 (she's currently in year 5). Can you say a bit more about why you feel it's so good? Thanks

Just to highlight that Wickham Court Senior school has been rebranded as Bromley Independent Grammar. I am not sure how this fits in with those considering transitioning from the lower school which remains Wickham Court.
