I taught at the middle school in Cheddar for 10 years and my son went to middle and high school there. Both schools are very good and my son was very happy there. He is dyslexic but had excellent teaching at his primary school and I supported him later.
The village does get pretty full of tourists in the summer but mainly just around the gorge. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and very accessible. There are reasonable activties for children and adults - lots of pubs! I live in Wells which I prefer as a city - wonderful cathedral, good access to countryside, excellent small but 3 screen cinema much cheaper than Bristol, good places to eat out, good doctor,s surgery.
I have just retired from teaching in Bristol. If you want more contact please reply.
