Swimming Pools

So it's come to my attention that Bonnyrigg Leisure Centre is now closed. We used it a lot last summer as it a nice sized pool and I could watch all the children while I was there easily (all over 9 years). We no longer have Leith WaterWorld, so where else do people swim?

Portobello pool is nice; and it has a turkish bath (although that bit might be adults only).

Glenogle and Warrender are both traditional Victorian pools, and of course there's the commonwealth pool if you want full length.

Some of the private health centres have reasonable swim-only rates. I've heard the one next to Fettes recommended.

We've never found Glenogle particularly child friendly. Half of the pool always seems to be given over yo lanes, fine, except all the very slow elderly people insist on lane swimming slowly in the non lane section and tutting at children who get in their way!! And the pool staff always seem reluctant to allow floats and play things out. As my son's swimming teacher wryly put it "if it's fun, we don't allow it!".

We normally use ainslie park, currently closed, so have been going to westwoods. Commonwealth is also good- mine live the aquarium thing!!

Loanhead pool is ok. Not tried new pool in Bonnyrigg at the school yet!
