Hi everyone,

I've recently relocated to Southampton, the bitterne area, and I'm keen to make new friends. I've got 2 kids, a boy and a girl, 3 and 5. At the moment I'm full time mum to them both, I've just managed to sort out a nursery place for my son, a couple of days per week starting in Aug/Sep. And I'm waiting to here from admissions regarding a school for my daughter.

I'm keen for them to make friends too. I try to enjoy a social life and do things for me, apart from being a mum, so to meet up and make new friends would be lovely for us all. We are still finding our bearings, location wise, things for kids to do, local beaches, etc.

So Please drop me a line, I'd love to hear from you.

Many thanks, Caroline:-)

Hi Caroline, welcome to the area!
How are you finding things?
I have a 17 month old little girl and organise meet ups around the Portswood area. These tend to be on a Weds or Thurs but we can be flexible if those days don't suit.
Let me know if you fancy coming along to the next one, you are very welcome! If you'd prefer to meet one on one first then send me a PM and we can arrange something. I'm always on MN so I'm sure I'll see it soon.

Hi , we are a same sex couple and planning to start our family in February.
Just wondering if there are couples in a similar situation.
We live near Romsey and also looking to socialise .

Hello

I am moving to the Southampton area and have children already at uni, would anyone recommend the Bassett area for a nice place to live and easy access for teenagers to the city centre? is there anything in or close to Bassett itself for restaurants etc? gyms? many thanks for any help..

SilkStalkings · 27/01/2014 20:45

Hiya

Bassett is pretty boring TBH - either scummy & studenty or deathly quiet residential bits by The Avenue. Would recommend Highfield as the posher bit of Portswood if you have more money to spend.

Bitterne Park has a sort of middle-class-would-be-Bohemian feel to it, quite a few Uni staff live there, handy walk to Portswood conveniences plus buses/trains/cycle paths all useful. Nearest gyms by Northam Bridge, Bitterne Leisure Ctr, Lodge Rd or University.
