GP question again...

Hello! There are a couple of threads on here, but all from 2012.

I'm looking for a GP in Walthamstow. We live on the Village borders. The recommendations for Dr Cooney have one caveat: that he does not prescribe contraception.

Has anyone seen any of the other doctors at the practice? Are they all anti-contraception?

I'd prefer a female doctor and one sympathetic to women's health and all that entails - including the need for good contraception.

Would love some local advice!

The Cooney practice has reconsidered its postion after pressure from local women. Dr C himself does not prescribe but the other doctors there all do. He is a lovely and sympathetic dr and knows a lot about gynae but has strong roman catholic beliefs. I have found all the drs there to be good practitioners.

Thank you - do you know if it's possible to ask to see a female GP within the practise for women's health issues?

Going to the GP can be hard enough without feeling judged for fairly typical life choices.

I think they have female gps but it would be best to check. I gave up on prefering female drs after some pretty disappointing experiences. I have decided that a good, pro-female dr does not depend on gender. I work in the NHS.
