My little one has just finished Reception at the Roche, and I, and all the other Mums in his class, have been very happy with the school. It is a small, very friendly school. The kids seem to do well academically. My son loved it from the first day. There seems to be a lot of mixing between the classes and the years - probably because the premises are on the small side- and I like that too.
I think the school has a caring, nurturing environment which results in happy, confident kids. The parents all seem to be nice, down to earth people.
Negative aspects- having to make a packed lunch everyday is a pain!
The playground is small but they do have Wandsworth Park nearby for PE.
I hope this helps- let me know if you have any specific questions and i'll try and answer them.

The school is between Putney and Wandsworth, area seems nice ( particularly heading towards Putney) but we can't afford it:)
Putney high street is nearby ( ish) and is good for shopping, Wandsworth and south side shopping centre even nearer.
Wandsworth park, where the kids do PE, is 2-3 mins walk from the school and is lovely. It is on the Thames and yes, there's a good playground and, I gather, soon to be a little mini golf area ( or something like that) as well.
Where are you at the moment?

ShiftLD · 16/07/2013 11:16

At the moment Im near Regent Park !! I know far far away... Thats a long story, we arrived in London last year with a 2 yrs old daughter and realized how late to register in school we were compared to the local parents. We started a extensive research about good schools in London and The Roche is one of the "best classified" according to our criteria :).

The only point that still makes me insecure is ... why having 3 nurseries they still have places for Reception each year? Where all these kids go, other private, local schools, why not just continue at The Roche, it seems they have a preference in waiting list, don't they?

shiftLD, one of the nurseries is in Fulham so most kids go to Fulham Prep / Thomas's / Ken Prep and the like. For those in Putney / Wandsworth, I just think they are spoilt for choice, a few go to outstanding state primaries like Brandlehow and then others may end up at Thomas's / Putney High / Merlin / Hurlingham... there are so many excellent schools close by, so you will have some girls going to girls' schools, some boys off to schools that go till 13 or to dedicated pre-preps to aim for 7+ entrance to Colet Court etc..
