Must-visit places in Altrincham / Hale / Sale?

We're moving to Altrincham on Monday and I'd love to know of any lovely places to visit with my two DDs (DD1 nearly 3 and DD2 9 months.)

Best place for coffee? Nice parks? Where to go to feed the ducks?

I've researched some toddler groups (can't attend baby groups as no childcare for DD1 while I take DD2) but can't seem to find a music type group like the one DD1 enjoys near our current home.

Also, is there anywhere I should avoid?

Thanks.

If you're going to be on Oldfield Road (as your name suggests Smile) then I guess you already know about John Leigh Park? Stamford Park also good (and small duck pond) on other side of Altrincham. Dunham Park is great, really lovely for a family walk, deer spotting and child-friendly cafe.

Costa Coffee in Hale is usually busy for coffee, the library in Hale does a singing group on Tuesday and Friday mornings, usually very busy but good fun for little ones disorganised chaos. There are lots of Music with Mummy / Rhythm Time / Jo Jingles groups around if you want a more structured class - if you go to any of the local libraries, there is a local publication called Little Tigers (its a little A5 sized magazine) and in the back of that, there is a list of groups (activities / toddler groups) by day and location.

Also don't forget Knutsford, 15/20 mns by car, Tatton Park is great. There is also a big car park just of King Street where there are swings etc and you can feed the ducks.

You should also be able to take both children to mother and baby/toddler groups, I did.

Yes Little Tigers is a great magazine, as is Mums & Dads magazine, both of which you can pick up in the local Sainsbury's (which has a Starbucks) and Tesco.

Antz in Your Pantz is indoor soft play www.antzinyourpantz.co.uk/

There is also a Waitrose tucked away a bit but easy to find by car
