Pregnant in Mossley/Stalybridge/Ashton

Hi everyone,

Is anyone on here pregnant in these areas? I'm 13 weeks pregnant and looking for someone to share the pregnancy talk with. This is my second baby but I lost my first at 22 weeks last year after a bad diagnosis at my 20 week scan.

I don't know anyone near me as I moved to Mossley the day after I had my baby and naturally wasn't in the mood for socialising but I need to make some mum-to-be friends for the sake of this baby/my sanity. I promise I'm not a complete negative nancy, though obviously losing my baby is a new and still recent part of me so someone who can tolerate my worrying would be great! I don't just worry though, I promise.

I'm 24 and a student social worker about to start work with older people. I don't really do much apart from watching TV and wasting money on things I don't really need! I live on my laptop for my social life at the moment but I want to change that!

Hope someone on here answers my prayers but I see it isn't a very active board so I might not get any responses! It is worth a try though!

Michelle

HI Michelle,
I am the new local editor of the Stockport and Tameside site. I'm afraid that I don't live over your side but I do know that one of the Local Ambassadors for our site lives in Stalybridge and she is looking to organise a meet up. So that would be good. Also there is a really active NCT in your area that I can put you in touch with. I will get the info and get back to you asap. and put the LA your way. See you did get an answer Smile

Hi there!

Thank you for replying to me. I'd love to meet up with other people so if she organises that then that would be fantastic. Sorry it has taken me so long to reply (hypocrite!), I don't check mumsnet too often (I get addicted to forums if I come on too often!).

I need "mum friends" :D

Hi Michelle, I'm the Local Ambassador Itsfabupnorth mentioned. I'm meant to be organise a meet-up, but I'm totally disorganised. I'm also due to go in hospital next week for an operation so it's likely to be August before I can do anything. You may spur me on to just set a date for August when I'm well. :)

But I can point you in the direction of the Tameside NCT group. They have a regular meet-up at Ikea Cafe on a Tuesday morning 10:30-12ish. If you get there before 11 and pick up an Ikea family card (they're free) you can get a cooked breakfast for 99p. I used to run it when I was on Mat Leave, the thought of breakfast got me out of the house better than anything else could. :)
Pregnant Mums and those with babies are welcome and they're a lovely group of ladies. There's also a Mossley Coffee morning which takes place at various houses on a Friday too. If you're on Facebook they have a page on there where you can get more info just search for Tameside NCT. Or drop me a private message on here and I can give you more details.

Oh, as for me, I'm in Stalybridge, and I've got a 5 year old daughter and 20 month old son. I work for the NHS for the local Learning Disability Service. I also live on the internet for my social life as my son is only just getting his head around the concept of "sleep". Hmm

I've actually seen the details for the IKEA meetings. I thought they were just for breastfeeding so that's why I hadn't given them much thought.
Unfortunately I have to work during those meetings so it's unlikely I can make them until I'm on my maternity leave :(

Oh that's a shame that you're working then. What are your days off?and I'll try to think what there is.

The Ikea group is for anyone. I think people assume it's for breastfeeding because it's NCT, and a very long time ago there was a breastfeeding counsellor there, but that stopped about 3 years ago. Everyone is welcome, Mum's, Dad's, pregnant, with babies, toddlers, breastfeeding or not. They're not a fussy bunch :)

I am a Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pmish girl at the moment :) I do get some study days as I'm a student social worker but I prefer to have them on a Friday and they're fortnightly.

Hey. I am moving to Mossley soon. Wondering how u find the area? I have a 12 week old boy

Teddypompom · 19/01/2014 16:06

I'm also a full time social work student Michelle

Teddypompom · 19/01/2014 16:10

And also 24 like you lol. Well you probably won't read this as I know u don't come in here much but if u do would be great to chat. I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks so although not far along like you I understand a bit of the pain that comes with losing an Unborn baby. I have moved to the Micklehurst estate
