moving back to Southfields

Hi

We're in a bit of a dilemma about moving back to Southfields - we have a house on the grid, rented out at the moment and we live in Hampshire. We've been debating whether to just sell it, keep renting it out or do it up and move back in. We miss London at times and DH's commute is pretty hideous, I would have so much more work choices but our 5 and 7yo's have lots of friends here and can play out on the street in our cul de sac, the secondary is outstanding but there's not really a lot for teenagers to do round here.

I spoke to Sheringdale and was told we may well get places as it wouldn't be reception places we were after, but do kids play out on the grid and go round to each others houses independently? I'm worried we'd move and the dc wouldn't have friends!

Any comments greatly appreciated, thanks

Dear sidereturn, change is always daunting, but families move in/ out of the grid constantly, so I think you can rest assured your kids would connect with other children pretty quickly. As to "playing on the streets" that does not really happen, but Wimbledon Park is big enough and there is loads of sports and other activities your kids could get involved with. :)

Thanks LG for that! We bought the house in 2006 when DD1 was 18 months and only lived there for 6 months before DH's job moved down to Hampshire so I never got into the Southfields scene that much but know it's a real family area and Wimbledon Park is ace.

Honestly it's all I can think about at the moment - moving back, living the london life - have missed it terribly, I was just worried my DD's are Hampshire girls now and too used to their freedom - guess they'd quickly change though!
