Hi all, first time poster, long time lurker!

I have a gorgeous 4 month old boy and will be going back to work in August when he's 6 months old. We'd love to speak to childminders who could care for him full time, if possible in our home but if not then nearby (we live in Wellington Square). Can anyone help us out with a recommendation?

Hi

Saw your listing in the childcare area, and that's for people who are childminders/nannies, not for people looking for them.

So I've deleted it. This is the place to put things like that.

Cheers

Tee

Hi LemonPosset,
I too am returning to work in AUg and looking for a childminder for my 6 month old and finding it very difficult. HAve you tried the NICMA site.. A link to the childminder vaccancies is below
www.nicma.org/cms/find-a-childminder
Just put your post code in. There was 10 listed in my Postcode area, I emailed all of them two got back to me with no vaccancies, the rest haven't bothered. I don't know what to do next :(
Hope you have better luck.

Hi Lemon and Lily, having been there (a long time ago now) I know how hard it is to find a minder. I found mine through the NICVA pages as suggested but had to go a few miles across town to do so (in opp direction to my work)

When I was running a course for parents I found additional info on how to have someone look after your child(ren) in your own home. This option was created in NI because of the shortage of childcare places. The info on it is available from NICVA also, IIRC, but separate from 'childminder' lists as they are for those looking after groups of children in their homes not the children's own home.

I would also say from personal experience don't rule out formal nurserys, I went with Queen's (student and staff) crèches and was very happy with the care - more so than with childminder tbh but that was more bad luck on getting a poor childminder.

I hope you both get sorted and maybe see you at one of the local meets :D
