Cambridge - somewhere to live

I am hoping move to Cambridge soon to start a new job and I am just doing a bit of research and wondered if anyone who lives locally could provide me with some suggestions. Ideally I'm looking for a self-contained apartment or annexe in or near Cambridge at a reasonable rent Hmm. Depending on various factors I would be happy to help out (ie childcare or household type jobs) if the accommodation was attached to a family home.

Where is your new job located, and what do you consider a reasonable rent? Are there any particular ameneties you'd like to be near?

Ideally it would nearish to the Addenbrooke's area and I don't need to be close to the railway station or bus routes. I didn't say in my first message that it is accommodation just for me (nice, quiet, tidy, sensible type Smile) that I'm on the search for. With regards to rent, hmm well, I'm willing to try and lower it by offering help / jobs, but I'm looking in region of £500 ish / month!

I am willing to pay more though (have done a bit of research now) and would not mind at all other areas. Also could do part weeks.
I continue to look at Gumtree, rightmove and Brettwood websites, as suggested in previous threads but any help, ideas or contacts would be greatly appreciated.
