Commute from Penicuik to Edinburgh Town Centre

Hey,

I'm looking at buying a house just South of Penicuik. Could anyone on here tell me what the commute is like from Penicuik to the centre of Edinburgh (Frederick St) during the normal rush; say 0700-0900 and 1700-1900. The Bus service looks painful at around 50 mins, but then taking the Car means the headache of traffic and parking in Town. Any advice would be helpful from people who do this Journey now?

Used to do this but have since moved. Generally I drove to the P&R at Straiton and then got the express bus into town. Wasn't too bad, less than an hour.
