Hi all, as I am new in the area, I wonder what would your suggestions be on the best places to take tennis and swimming classes for 8 year old? we live close to richmond town center and do not own a car at the moment so anywhere within close distance would be much better.

Welcome to Richmond Berilka. There are tennis lessons at Cambridge Gardens, just over Richmond Bridge, see here for details. However I don't know what they're like as a new operator has taken them over this year (the previous coach there was very good, and wasn't too happy when the council decided to replace him with a big company contract, but you probably don't need to know all that).

Another nearby tennis option would be the Garden Court.

The obvious place for swimming lessons would be Pools on the Park, see here. Again, I don't know what the quality is like, but it's walking distance from Richmond town Centre.

You can do swimming lessons at the garden court too, dd1 has just started and seems very good. Small group lessons and lots of individual attention. No website but pm me if you'd like her phone number. It's an outdoor pool but apparently fine year-round Shock

There are also good tennis lessons at Richmond Lawn Tennis Club, on Kew Road.
