Thinking of offering Spanish Language Clubs for Babies & Children - feedback needed!

Hi all,

My hubby and I are looking into offering Spanish Language Clubs for Babies & Children. We are based in Exeter and I'm trying to gauge local interest and find out if parents would be interested in their child learning a second language in a fun and safe environment. Both my husband and I speak Spanish fluently, having lived in Spain for 13 years. We are hoping that if the Spanish is popular that we could also offer French in time.

We are currently thinking of setting up with La Jolie Ronde (French and Spanish clubs) - they are a well known programme of language clubs specifically aimed at children under 12. The clubs can be offered in schools, pre schools, nurseries and parent and toddler groups as well as other settings and are available for newborn babies as well as young children.

Please can I ask mumsnetters for any feedback and any questions would be welcome. Thanks in advance x

Hi JeannaG. Hope you get some responses here - I'll flag the thread up on Facebook as well. Good luck!

Hi, not so much Spanish but I'd be interested in French classes for my nearly 3 year old. We will have French family soon via my sister.

Hola JeannaG, I think it is a great idea. I am a native Spaniard and with a friend run a Spanish after school club for bilingual children in Exeter which has been going for 4 yrs now. In the past I have had a lot of interest from parents who wanted their kids to join us. However, we do not teach the language, we create an environment were kids who already speak at home can play with other kids and use that language. I hope it takes off. Best of luck :-)
