Hello, in the near future the current government will be making many changes to early years education. They are planning to increase the ratios concerning how many children nursery workers will have to look after. These are the current ratios
under 1 and 1 year olds-1:3
2 year olds-1:4
3 year olds and above-1:8 or 1:13 (teacher led)
These are the proposed ratios:
under 1 and 1 year olds:-1:3
2 year olds-1:6
3 year olds and above: 1:8 or 1:13 (teacher led)
So the changes will mainly effect the quality of childcare that 2 year olds receive. The government will also be cutting jobs in early years childcare because they wish to employ nursery workers who have higher qualifications and they intend to pay them higher wages but nursery managers will employ less employees.
I want to know how Mums and nursery workers feel about this? Will the quality of childcare be affected by these changes and will toddlers benefit from having fewer carers with higher qualifications??
