Anyone in the Longridge/Clitheroe area and roundabouts?

Hiya - After seeing a thread which was telling MNers off for not using their local sites, I thought I'd start a thread to see if there was anyround around this way?

I know there is also a Preston site but that seems to be more for the city-dwellers and I thought there should be a friendship bench for MNers who live in Longridge / Clitheroe / Chipping / Bleasdale / Inglewhite / Whitechapel / Ribchester / Hurst Green etc etc?

Hope someone replies soon...!

Hello!

I'm not in the immediate area but I didn't want to leave you unanswered - just having a look round the wider Lancs site area.

We were in Clitheroe yesterday - lovely place :)

Hope this serves as a Bump for your thread if Bumps work in Local.

WingDefence · 05/03/2013 18:15

Thanks Chance!

Are you in Lancs at all? :)

ChanceTurtle · 05/03/2013 18:27

South Ribble, but we go walking/days out around Longridge, Pendle, Ribchester etc.

WingDefence · 05/03/2013 22:07

One of these days I'll climb Pendle... Perhaps not when I'm 35wks pregnant though! Grin

Perhaps I should have put Ribble Valley in the thread title. You should start one for South Ribble :)

No, you need your balance for those high ridges Grin

WingDefence · 07/03/2013 09:40

Haha - very true!

There must be more Ribble Valley people on MN... Have you found many from your area?

OP posts:
ChanceTurtle · 07/03/2013 10:38

A few, yes. They have younger children though and DS is 10.

I posted a Local Event!

WingDefence · 07/03/2013 11:45

Oh brilliant. Now I just have to work out where those are listed... It's not exactly the easier site to navigate around!

OP posts:
ChanceTurtle · 07/03/2013 14:01

I just tried to list the same event on this Lancashire page but it said Access Denied.
Have discovered that my actual area is under Lancashire though, rather than Preston, which is a bit odd.

Will try again later.

WingDefence · 08/03/2013 19:20

Any joy Chance? I got a PM from EmmaMumsnet with the email address of the LE for Lancs and Preston and I've offered to help if she needs anything. It's [email protected] if you want to email too.

OP posts:
ChanceTurtle · 09/03/2013 14:48

Yes thank you - it posted the listing despite saying Access Denied Smile

Email will be helpful for future reference though.

Having a hunt around for upcoming events in Lancs and will speak to the Library service managers to see if they would like me to promote their activities or if they prefer to do it themselves.

Hello there! I live in Clitheroe with my two children age 10 and 7. Would be lovely to meet some people locally.

WingDefence · 11/03/2013 17:43

Hi OWW!

I've got DS4 and I'm 36+2 with my DC2. Nice to hear from you :)

I've only been in the area for 2 years - we're not in Clitheroe itself but visit every couple of weeks for shopping, Costa etc Grin Really looking forward to exploring the castle & park again when the weather gets better!

Chance - I PMd MN Lancs on Facebook and they said they are looking for local ambassadors. I may have given them your NN too - don't worry I haven't signed you up for anything! Blush

I grew up here but have only been back just over a year, and I'm finding it difficult to make friends as I work out of town and due to my commuting I miss the school drop off and pick up. It's a lovely place and great to be back, but it would be even better with a couple of mates nearby to spend the odd day out with or have a natter with Smile

WingDefence · 13/03/2013 18:44

That makes complete sense OWW.

Well, it looks like I might become a Local Ambassador which involves arranging meet ups and other things apparently.

So once I have my instructions helpful guidance, and perhaps once I've had DC2(!), I'll get onto doing that straight away. We might need a few more people on here though - or perhaps the guidance will suggest things like putting up notices around to get MNers and potential MNers' attention?

GarstangBlue · 14/03/2013 21:52

Hello there, I'm nearby, as you can see from my NN!

WingDefence · 15/03/2013 15:10

Great NN Garstang!

I've been set up now as local ambassador for East Lancs which I think covers the area I mentioned in my OP - but Garstangers are also most welcome!

Head over to the meet ups bit and 'join' the group thing on there. (Sorry, still getting to grips with all the terminology etc!)

Hi Wing Defence :)

I'm originally from Lancs but now live in Skipton, which just falls into N.Yorks. It's only about 20 mins drive from Skipton to Clitheroe, so if you do organise anything I'd love to be involved.

I've been living overseas for 10 years and am keen to meet new friends. I have a 15 mth old son :)

Hope to hear from you once you've had your baby and begin to organise any meet-ups.

All the best
Chrissie

WingDefence · 23/03/2013 12:21

Hi Chrissie! My DH comes from Bentham and Skipton is lovely :)

I'm due to have DC2 any day now so it may go a bit quiet on the Local page but please do sign up to the meet ups bit of the Local site (I'm the LA for the East Lancs page but there are other Lancs meet up groups too) Thanks

ChrissieInYorkshire · 24/03/2013 07:33

Thanks for your reply WD!

I've now signed up in the East Lancs meet-up section.

;)

MarianaTrench · 31/03/2013 20:07

Hi - I've just found this bit of the site. I'm only a few miles from Clitheroe but currently nearing the end of a very stressful pregnancy so not really capable of much at the moment. I am new to this area too, so know nobody locally either. I have a little girl of 3 and usually work part time, but will hopefully be off for a year now. Would enjoy meeting people at a later date though.

WingDefence · 31/03/2013 21:44

Hi Mariana - good to hear from you :)

I've just had my DC2 on Friday so I hope the rest of your pregnancy and birth go well for you!

Do let us know when you're feeling more up to socialising Thanks
