Films for a seven-year-old daughter?

Can anyone help with this query from the Mumsnet Exeter facebook page?

"I am wondering if anyone out there is going through the phase I am with my 7 year old daughter. She's really outgrown the whole Disney film thing, but is not really old enough for some of the teen-girl films which are available. Any favourites in your households which we might be able to find on ebay or amazon??"

It really is a bit of a gap in the market, especially for girls, and it's hard to find coming-of-age type films that deal with more than looks, popularity, stuff, and romance (whilst these things are important to everyone as they grow up, they shouldn't be the whole story!)

The few that I've found are:

Kiki's Delivery Service - a young witch finding her feet in her first job
The Iron Giant - great for 7-12 year olds
Whale Rider
Fly Away Home
FairyTale - A True Story

There was also a lovely Scandinavian film about a little girl who befriends a fox... can't remember what it's called, though
