Hastings or Eastbourne?

My husband and I are planning on/ hoping to move to the south coast from London in May/June because of his work and are thinking of either Hastings or Eastbourne. Does anyone have any advice on which one is nicer to live in/ best for families (we have an 18 month old son)? Alternatively, are there any other small towns/villages nearby that you could recommend? Any advice would be really gratefully appreciated.

I live in Eastbourne and have lived in most places along the south coast and i would say that Eastbourne is better for families than Hastings. This is just my opinion though and Hastings is only a short distance away anyway :)
