Moving from York to somewhere near aberdeen

My husband to be has just been offered a job in aberdeen.
We were wondering which areas were good and which to stay clear of .
We have a 6year old daughter so a good school is a must .

What sort of area are you looking for?

Are you looking for city centre or surrounding area?

Are you going to be renting or buying?

There aren't very many "bad" areas in Aberdeen.

Nice would include

Close to centre:

Ferryhill
West End

Outskirts

Cults
Kingswells
Bridge of Don
Bucksburn/Dyce

The sticks (in relation to Aberdeen) but nice towns and easily commutable:

Inverurie
Ellon
Banchory (further afield are Aboyne and Alford, both lovely)
Stonehaven
Newtonhill
Westhill

Personally this is only my opinion, don't flame me I'd avoid

Torry
Tillydrone/Sandilands
Froghall
Kincorth
Northfield

Disclaimer, the last places mentioned have nice bits in them and lots of lovely people too.
