Relocated to Edinburgh, tips for making friends?

We moved to Edinburgh from the US 2 years ago, I have a 2 yr old DD and I moved recently to 4 days a week at work. Other mums at nursery seem pretty busy, we have no family here, I'm wondering if anyone has tips on what to try? My DH travels a fair bit, it would be nice to meet some other mums.

We moved to Edinburgh about 6 weeks ago due to partner starting a new job position. I'm currently not working due to the move and the fact i have 3 months till we have a new addition to our little family. Have a little boy who is nearly 5. Thought that id meet mums through the school, but not having much luck there. Maybe we could arrange a coffee meet up?

Moving whilst pg? That's tough, I hope you are settling in ok - would be great to meet for coffee? I'm not working on Fridays, if that could work?

yeah i know. All settled in fine. Glad the christmas period is over. Coffee sounds great. Fridays are good for me. how about morning friday 11th?

i'm helping at playgroup that friday morning, any chance we can do it 1/2 in the afternoon? Otherwise the following Friday is better. Do you have a coffee place in mind?

Yeah we can. I pick up little man from school at 12 on Fridays, so shall we meet at 1? Don't have a place in mind. We will be in the centre. Is there anywhere which is best for you?

1 will be great, want to meet at the pret on Hanover street? Anywhere central is fine too. If this gets to you too late, how about the following Friday? Sorry for the late reply, dd started new nursery this week and it has been tough settling her in.

Hi, We've also moved recently - up from London in July, though I am American. I have 2 ds's (2 and 8 months and 4 and 7 months) and work full time, so no tips on meeting people but keen to meet up if you do anything again and would be interested in meeting on a weekend. Perhaps Loopy Lorna's? They have toys!
