Are you the parent/carer of a SEN or disabled child? The Rainbow Support Group is being run by The Reddings Children?s Centre in partnership with Bournehall School. It is for parents/carers of children with a range of additional needs to share their experiences and receive support. If you feel you need help and advice or you feel you could offer support to others, please come along for a hot drink, biscuits and a chat in a friendly and informal group.
Monday 17th September, Wednesday 17th October, Friday 23rd November, Monday 17th December
Time ? 9.30am ? 11.30 am
Venue ? Bournehall School (Community Room), Bournehall Ave, Bushey, WD23 3AX.

I will try and make it along to the next one, is it well attended? I was planning to come to the July one but couldn't manage it.

Fixx · 19/08/2012 16:56

Hi,
Yes, come along!!! We are trying to make parents aware of our group as there seems to be nothing in Bushey. TBH I'm pretty appalled by the lack of support for parents of SEN kids in the local area. We are off out afterwards for lunch somewhere in Bushey if you want to come along? Please feel free to pass info onto other parents who might find it useful. There is also SEN swimming at Bushey Grove on Sunday 2nd Sept from 1pm - 2pm.
:)

Thanks Fixx I have emailed the details to other parents of Sen children in Watford. I will spread the word. :)

Lovely!!! Thanks so much. I am also going to Tulips in S.Oxhey on Sept 5th to meet up with some other parents. Do you know of any other parents groups locally?

I don't know many support groups. I live in St Albans and there is a support group there for children with Autism called Hope it's on the 2nd Tues of each month in the evening 7.30-9.30 it has a website here Hope to meet in Sep :)

Fixx · 25/08/2012 17:13

Hi, I was told about Hope and wanted to go but it a bit difficult as it's in the evening and I would have to get a babysitter. :(
There is also a great place in Hatch End called ADHD and Autism Support Harrow. They have coffee mornings, support workers and run courses and workshops each term. Wish we had something like that in Watford!!!!
Hopefully see you on 17th!!

Do you get all the updates from the KIDS hub?

Fixx · 03/09/2012 18:06

Hi,

Sorry haven't checked this for a while!!! Yes I do get updates from the HUB but annoyingly they are mostly things in Stevenage and Hertford!!!! I think the HUB would work much better if it was a place that parents could go to and meet up together once a week. Then info would get passed on more easily and help would be more readily avaliable. Email etc.... is great but you get much more info and feedback by actually speaking to people. Still I don't think there's much chance of that happening with all these cuts going on!!!! :(

Hopefully see you on 17th :)

Hi,

Thanks for coming today!!! The name of the guy from Dimensions is Nick Barratt and his email is [email protected]
He will come and do training on challenging behaviour for parents groups or school staff and I think it's free.
Please can you send me any info you have about playschemes or activities for SEN kids.

Thanks,

:)
