Hi,

We are looking in hiring a live out nanny for our daughter. Can anyone tell me how complicated the procedure of hiring one is? And also how much per hour (gross or net) would you expect to pay a nanny?

Thanks a lot!!

It's not too difficult (although finding the right person can be!), you can do it privately or through a company i.e. Tinies Childcare or The Care Necessities. If you are looking for an experienced Nanny or childcarer (with qualifications) and that can drive, you may be looking in the region of £8 - 10 p.h.

If you go through a company then they will take care of doing all the background checks and references which can be helpful.

Good luck! (The website Childcare.co.uk might be worth looking at as well??)

Many thanks Molly0773. The price range you gave is for which area?

Edinburgh central, not sure how much it would differ if you were on the outskirts - I guess it comes down to how much experience, flexibility and qualifications you want your new nanny to have. Best thing to do is get the word out that you are looking and see what the Nannies are asking for £ wise.
