Yarn shops near Penicuik or Edinburgh

I'm going to be on holiday next week near Penicuik / Edinburgh and I was hoping to visit a yarn shop to pick up some supplies. I was thinking of some lovely wool for winter socks perhaps. Does anyone have a recommendation for wool shops in that area?
I've heard of McAree's in Edinburgh but given that I'll be in an area known for its cashmere / mills etc I was wondering if there was somewhere out of town that I could go for a browse?

I haven't been yet, but this one looks ace. It is right in the centre of town though.

Oh that does look nice! Worth a trip into town, I think. Thanks Piff . I know that street - think there's also a nice whisky shop on that road, too! (or there used to be anyway) Double benefit!

There also used to be one in Portobello and there's also Hobbycraft at Kinnaird Park, John Lewis, not sure about Jenners any more.

And there used to be one at Haymarket as well.

I think the one in Portobello is gone now.

I remember buying wool there to knit wee cardies etc for my now almost 11 yo DD.

You could get lovely wool there, mind you there used to be a lovely wool shop not far from me and you could go in anytime if you were stuck with a pattern and the lady would give you lots of help or even finish it off for you But then's when I used to knit for my 30 yo DD
