Nurseries in Hassocks/Ditchling

We are trying to buy a house in Ditchling but there is going to be a gap between us selling our house (we are in London) and buying in Ditchling, so we are going to be renting for a few months first. It looks like we'll be renting in Hassocks as there are more houses available there. I will need to get 2 year old dd into a nursery; can anyone recommend one or tell me anything about the local ones? I know that Ditchling preschool doesn't take them till 3, which is a shame.

I'd also be really grateful for any suggestions of how to find a rental house - I've looked on Rightmove and there isn't much, and I'm drawing a bit of a blank with googled local estate agents too.

Thanks!

Anyone? I'm starting to panic a bit actually, there only seems to be one nursery in the area as far as I can make out -Happy Feet in Hassocks, but I can't find any reviews or anything on it beyond its own website. I can't find any play groups either. I'm starting to wonder if this is going to be a massive culture shock! Confused

Hi Rhubarb

I can't help you with nurseries I'm afraid, but with regards to finding a property to rent, our local free magazine

Latest Homes might be a good starting point.

It is half full of properties to buy and the other half of properties to rent.. in the Brighton and surrounding area.

If you are down this way you could pick up a copy at any local estate agents or get your agents to send you one in the post. You can also get it at the station or other places such as Hollingbury Asda.

Good luck Smile

Fab, thanks LaGuerta - that's all immensely useful. I feel reassured I'll find somewhere nice for her now! Are you in Hassocks? Do you like living there?

Pesto thanks for the tip about Latest Homes. I'll try to pick up a copy tomorrow as we'll be down there briefly.

Happy to help!

Another thought. Try emailing [email protected]

This is the email for the Mid Sussex Children's and Family centres (I think although it looks like a generic address but they have certainly sent me an email this week from it). Ask for their listings of playgroups, preschools etc. They may be able to post you a copy of the local "Grapevine" listings magazine which is pretty comprehensive. If not it will be in the library next time you are down.

I have driven past "the house" twice this week. Fingers crossed for you.

I am going to get my previous post deleted as I am in danger of outing myself. Please DM me though if you like and I can expand on what I have already said.

Thanks for that, I'll email them. We were down there today and it was glorious in the sunshine. Especially driving over the Beacon, and then seeing the sun sparkling on the sea as we approached Brighton. I'm really looking forward to getting out of stinky London now! Smile
