Westerton Railway Station

I understand that there was a tragic incident on the tracks nears Westerton Railway Station a few months ago. However, has anyone heard reports of the area around the station being unsafe? My DC regularly visits a friend who lives near Westerton Railway Station and it would be great if she was able to use this station to come home in the evenings.

I had not heard of anything and I do live locally. I suppose it depends on the age of your DC and what time in the evening. There is a ticket office that is manned but I don't know what time the office closes. If she is heading back into Glasgow City then she would be waiting beside the ticket office.

Thankyou for taking the time to reply Fibromum. She'd be cutting through from the Allander Road area to the station and getting off in Milngavie in the evening but daylight.

Although Bearsden Station is closer to me, if I use the train I use Westerton as i can get a number of trains to it and I think a lot of people do this too so it is a busy station, I think she would be okay. If it was my DD I would just make sure she stands on the part of the platform opposite the ticket office.

So nice of you to comment. My uncertainty is more with getting to the station from the other side to you, which involves going along a footpath. I use Westerton more even though I'm closer to Milngavie!
