Soham? Weatheralls Primary and the area in general??

We hope to secure a place at Weatheralls Primary in Soham and are moving 150 miles into the area. Honest opinions please?

• what is Soham like?
• What is the school like?
• What will we need to know about the area? -Anything else that may help us as we move in 7 weeks!!

I feel your pain! we are moving to S. Cambs in two weeks after months of plannning - excited :) It's scary to move so far when you don't know the place.

I don't know about that side of Cambs but what you could do is put 'Soham' into the search and it will bring up past posts on it - that's what I did and it was great to just have a read though.

Ok, just tried it and it came up with rubbish so you need to put in 'Soham Cambridgeshire' - saw lots of posts mentioning it and talking about the school!

I'm feeling completely overwhelmed tonight with everything we have to do! I've also just found out that the kids have a month induction to school.....a month !!! How is that supposed to fit in with work??

A month induction? are you sure? my dd is starting her new school in Cambs this September and there is no induction, she just starts on the first day of term like everyone else.

Did you find the info you were looking for though?? I'm someone who knows the area will be along soon....

I've been told forst week on sept is home visits. 2nd week is two mornings in school. 3rd week is every morning in school with optional lunch and afternoon. 4th week is every morning and lunch with optional afternoon....full week starts October.....i can't believe it either!

I haven't really been able to find anything out about the school or area other than which shops it has and there is a good secondary school. You know someone who knows more?? Am almost willing to pay for info

Wow - that is a long induction. Can you request your child just starts or maybe just does half day for a week?! seems a bit much, it really does.

Umm.. no,I don't know anyone. New to Cambridgeshire myself but I did look at the past posts and it was generally regarded has a nice place with very good schools. Are you still deciding on Soham or is it a certain thing??

Weatheralls is first choice school, bottisham second. That's more to do with being able to afford soham but not bottisham so almost definately soham.
