A Question (or two...) About Babysitting

Hello!

I've been doing babysitting/part-time/occasional nanny work for the past two years or more in Glasgow. I live in the West End so I mostly work there but I'm moving to the City Centre in a month (right by Buchanan Street bus station which makes travelling much easier!). I've just graduated from university and am in the process of looking for a full time job but want to continue doing babysitting for my 4/5 regular families and possibly pick up a few more. At the moment I'm usually only booked about three or four nights each month which suited me when I was struggling with university work but isn't really an issue any more. What I'm wondering is, where do parents look for babysitters? I've registered on any websites I know of and posted adverts on Gumtree. I've also been found via word of mouth on a couple of occasions. If anyone has any advice as to where I should be advertising elsewhere, I'd really appreciate it!

Also, if you work as a nanny/babysitter in Glasgow how much do you typically charge per hour? I used to think I was charging too much but I've since noticed much less experienced babysitters (16 year olds writing in text speak...) asking for just £1 less an hour than me. I normally charge £7 per hour but will only take work if it's for 3 hours or more but recently charged a new family £8 because I was asked at the last minute and had to cancel my own plans. They said they were happy to pay it and would continue to pay me £8. I don't want to ask other the other families I work for to pay me more (I've been working for three of them for more than two years and they've never offered me any more than £7...)

Thanks in advance!
