Hello everyone,

I am moving from Scotland to England for a job offer. The job is in Hemel Hempstead but I want to expand my search for a place to live a bit and was told that St Albans is really nice (was told the opposite about HH, so very insecure about what to do).

I need a one bedroom flat with good links to public transport. I need the flat from the beginning of August but won't have a chance to look at place till the 30th of June. And even then I will really only have that weekend to find something, due to the distance and work. So it all has to go extremely quickly.

So I would appreciate any advise-good areas, how is transport, does anyone know how the commute to HH is (and has anyone any advise about HH while we're on the topic?) etc. I am going to live alone and am in my early 20s, so really need a safe area. I won't have a car so a supermarket close by would be good.

I wondered whether it would be easiest to contact an agent and ask them to arrange as many viewings for me as possible for that weekend I am down in London, but I am not sure agents offer a service like that? So far I have always found places independently. Des anyone know any good agents or websites to use?

Thank you

Oh and I would be happy with a studio flat as well, doesn't have to be a proper flat. I'll be working crazy hours anyway. Also, my budget won;t stretch too far, I hope to find something for 600pcm, but could stretch to 700 in the worst case scenario

Some of Hemel Hempstead is very nice. Have a look at it, you will probably get more for your money in Hemel Hempstead. There is a bus link with Hemel Hempstead and St Albans.

Have a look at this website here

Good luck
