Sir John Lawes School Harpenden catchment

Hello, we are planning to move to Harpenden and hope to get a place at Sir John Lawes for 2013. Does anyone know how near you need to be to the school to be relatively sure of getting a place there - we are thinking of renting a house that's about 1.5 km away (Sir John Lawes is the nearest non-church school). Suffering last minute anxiety about signing on the dotted line... Many thanks.
