Primary shool entry in East Sheen

Can someone please advise?
I am looking to buy a house in Sheen, which is a real struggle as there is nothing on the market at the moment.

Anyway, I have seen one lovely property near Sheen Lane - i.e in the middle sort of 'town' section - so not in the catchment area I think of either East Sheen Primary, or Sheen Mount. Does anyone have any advice as to where my DC might end up then? I can't seem to find out what other options there are and Richmond admissions don't answer the phone - they just have an answer phone message. This would be for 2013/2014 admission.

Can some wise soul from the Sheen / Richmond area please advise?

Here are the cut off distance for 2012 east sheen 407m
sheen mount 1043m this is due to bulge class therefore you should use the previous years distance of 504

east sheen has also added bulge for 2012 so next year hence distance likely to be less

sheen lane could be no mans land particularly mortlake end
however there is always holy trinity as well and new free school if approved
marshgate is getting bulge for 2013 i think this year distance 578m

therefore I would suggest you move within 500m of preferred school as a minimum

Wow 407m for East Sheen Primary, My ds will be starting school 2014 and we also live on sheen lane and it is def a no mans land with regard to schools, I hear of families getting offered no school this year which is very worrying, I would love him to go to East Sheen as myself and siblings all went there and I have always lived in sheen but I doubt with that small catchment area we would get it.

I am new to this school admissions hell so forgive my ignorance - but some children don't get a place? Really? What happens then? And does anyone know anymore about the free school? When is it likely to be approved etc?

I assume you eventually get a placement at a school but it could be a few miles away and not a preferred school. I'm not sure when we will hear about the free school but they apparently want to be open for September 2013 intake so I suppose we will wait and see.

They are obliged to give you a place somewhere by September, but it may be a long way from your house, not a school you like, and most of the classmates don't live near you (sometimes equally far flung in the opposite direction).

There seems to be a "glitch" in the admissions system that people with a school offer can be offered another place before those without a place... if they live closer to the school in question.

If not sheen mount, then probably holy trinity or marshgate, but you should also look at kew riverside school down mortlake road as there is can be movement in places in the school in the first year and spaces come up.
