hi, the four closest schools one to the place i am looking at are a catholic one (it's no my preference and most problably there's no place), fairlight (reports quite bad so it's a no), coombe rd and elm grove. On paper elm grove primary it's the best one but as I expect it no place. The other one is coombe rd on paper seems to be no really really bad but Im not sure how good it is. Any advice on this lasts two would really appreciate.
many thanks

I don't know Coombe road at all & don't know that much about Elm Grove as it is now, but friends DCs have gone there in the past & rated it as a great School, though I did hear a story from one of the Mums that my own DD was at Nursery with that put me off having it on our Schools list - on meeting the head she was told that he can spot the trouble makers & kids that will do well on the first day of reception - seemed very off to be labelling DCs so young & seemingly not giving some a chance - but that was several years ago & I've no idea if its even the same Head, so things could have changed a lot by now.

We do know DCs who go to Fairlight & love it & do well there, but got to admit it looks pretty grim from the outside, bit of a foreboding looking old building

Its School Fete Season, so why not ring the Schools & find out when there School Fetes are & go along, it will give you a good feel for the School, staff & surroundings & you can talk to Mums with DCs their now as they'll be running the stallsWink

good luck
