If you stay in the Partick area or in fact anywhere in Glasgow then check out Jungle in the City on Gardner Street www.jungleinthecity.co.uk

It's a great soft play area with loads of other things to do and it's only £2 per hour. It's run by a really nice lady called Katherine - she's a real family woman and just loves kids. It's great to watch the kids have fun whilst I sit and catch up on my French vocab!

See you there?

Is it for toddlers or are all children welcome :-) ?

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 04/05/2012 19:07

Is it not more than £2 for older ones?

I like it but it is getting a bit tatty looking, there is homley and there is tatty and it is verging on to the 2nd.

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 04/05/2012 19:09

Garscube play rooms are good too Charlotte if you are looking for stuff? It is only £1 for first child and 50p for each additional and you can stay all day, and bring packed lunch

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 04/05/2012 19:11

it is getting a bit knackered, i agree, those sofas up at the back are absolutely revolting, and the price of the coffee is a bit bloody ridiculous. it's not bad coffee, mind you.

but my children love it on rainy days, and it's not so big that they can't be seen from the tables. can't remember what they pay but it feels a bit more than £2 an hour.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 04/05/2012 19:12

garscube playrooms are excellent... although i always have difficulty finding it.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 04/05/2012 19:13

oh, and the religious messages and manky handprints on the jitc walls are very Confused.

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 04/05/2012 19:23

Aitch me too, I always used to go the wrong way. Now I have it down to about 7 minutes! But used to take at least 20! Blush I like the new soft play room in Garscube.

Yeah the hand print thing started off as a nice idea but it doesn't work. They maybe could work as part of something more organised. One of the staff can do amazing paintings - get them over more of it.

Yes the sofas are vile, get some new ones from a 2nd hand shop, and could have throws or something if want them all to match. Then easy to clean.

But I like that you can see all of frame and I do like the staff.

But it is prob suffering from sporty kids and needs to up the game a wee bit to compete.

jessieslassoo · 04/05/2012 19:23

Really?! I have to say I agree with Aitch and Giraffes I think it is a bit grubby and the sofas make me feel dirty just looking at them.

It could be decent if it was given a make-over or a good clean. I'll admit to having a snigger at the religious messages on the wall, seems a bit Hmm would be different if it was a play area in a church hall or something, but seems very out of place.

Have also found that they have moaned a bit if you try to go i with a higher adult than children ratio, even if the place is empty!!

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 05/05/2012 01:11

The guy who works there is really nice, he helped me out in a work crisis and is always friendly etc.

It does need a makeover to compete imo. It is handy and good for a wee play if have an hour to kill, but wouldnt be my choice of soft play if wanted to go for lunch.

jessie you'd think they wouldnt mind as likely to be buying tea/cakes thern!

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 06/05/2012 19:50

omg went to sportykids today, what a brilliant place. didn't catch the charges as it was a party, but it was sooooo much brighter and cleaner than Jitc. (and handy for lidl). very impressed.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 06/05/2012 19:51

oh and the 'party hosts' actually gave a shit, which i have never, ever seen the jitc lot do.

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 06/05/2012 22:49

The young girl with dark pony tail who works in sporty kids is fantastic with the children. She realy has a good way with them.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 06/05/2012 22:54

we had her, yes. and a blonde girl, quite curvy.

giggly · 08/05/2012 01:23

I like JITC parties because they play party games. I went to the one in Possil today and it was shit, nice coffee though.

jessieslassoo · 08/05/2012 20:30

The one in Cumbernauld is good (a bit far out) was there for a party a few weeks ago, nice and big and spacious and the food was really nice.

Aboutlastnight · 08/05/2012 20:36

Sportykids is great, clean, well run.

But the one my kids gibber about is Sox n Slides in Dumbarton.

And I love the playrooms and have been going for eight years now DD3 is obsessed with it.

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 08/05/2012 22:19

look on my profile...my wrist is what happened in sox and slides in Dumbarton - ouch

TimrousBeastie · 09/05/2012 22:28

been to a few parties in sporty kids and the staff have always been great. The last one had a young guy as a party host and he was very good- all the children were up dancing about with him.

cocobongo · 10/05/2012 22:57

sporty kids is fantastic, the staff are all really friendly and so nice to my daughter. £3.75 for 2 hours' play in the week (think it is £4.25 at the weekend), but you can usually stay longer if it isn't too busy. during the week it's great, because all the toddlers can use the "big" bit, and their parents can go up too if they are too wee for it- cue lots of adults getting to go down the big slide!

oh, and it is always immaculate too.

suzikettles · 10/05/2012 23:05

Dh took ds to JITC the other week (last week maybe? Very recently anyway) and said they'd done it up - he specifically commented that the religious messages were gone.

Sox & slides is amazing but tricky to keep an eye on if they're wee. Ds insisted on me going down the big slide with him and I almost had a panic attack . It's pitch dark and not that wide so I had visions of me getting jammed halfway down as 5yr olds backed up behind me...

Monstermuncher · 12/05/2012 13:42

Socks and slides is ace but I am too scared to go on the big slides too Suzikettles, thats a job for DH.

VodkaKnockers · 14/05/2012 01:02

Agree with all the posters re SportyKids!

DS2 loves it there!

Have been told that Jurassic Jungle up at the Point is really good too.

cocobongo · 14/05/2012 17:33

VodkaKnockers - Jurassic Jungle is nowhere near as good as sporty kids. The play areas are pretty small. And, unlike sporty kids, adults aren't allowed to go into the play area with the wee ones, so if you have a toddler, then they are restricted to one small area with a mini slide and not much else. Didn't eat in it, but doesn't look particularly appealing- just all junk. And not as clean as sporty kids either.

Both times we've been to Jurassic Jungle, we stayed less than an hour.....

VodkaKnockers · 14/05/2012 23:46

DS1 seemed to like it the few occasions he went.

giraffesCantGoPotholing · 15/05/2012 00:17

JJ has improved recently. Not sure if new management or something
