Secondary Schools in Berkhamsted

Hi,

I am thinking of moving to Berkhamsted. I know the area quite well but know nothing about the quality of secondary schools in the area.

Is Ashlyn's the only state school in the area? I saw the Ofsted report only rated it as satisfactory. Is this a fair reflection?

Thanks in advance!

HI there, yes Ashlyns is the only state school in Berkhamsted.
If you are Catholic you could go to JFK in Hemel Hempstead which is Outstanding. Tring School is also a good school. Not sure about catchment though. Hopefully someone else will give better info! good luck. It is a fantastic place to move to.

No good on secondary schools, but there is a lot if chat about the 3 tier system changing to 2 tier (currently lower, middle and upper). Berko is fabulous. I moved here 10+yrs ago and love it!

OTOH Ashlyns is supposed to be improving I think.
And many children DO do very well there - I think it depends on the child and the family background. [disclaimer - my DC don;t go there]
Agree absolutely with minstrels - Berko is indeed fabulous!

Hi there,

This is my first time on Mumsnet, and I'm afraid I'm not able to help with the discussion on secondary schooling, but rather cheekily I'd like to jump aboard this discussion to see if anyone has any guidance or thoughts on Primary schools in Berkhamsted...

We are hoping to move to the area soon and I'd like to get some local input,

many thanks...
