Primary Admissions Crisis 2012???

I have a child who will be starting school next year (2013), and after all the news of the Admissions Crisis in 2011 I have kept a keen eye on developments this year.

We are in Redland so are looking at Westbury Park/St Johns, which seemed to have a lot of problems last year with families living quite close not being allocated places.

However, I haven't heard any particularly bad stories this year. And when I look at the initial offer statistics for these schools I find that Westbury is taking children 2km away and St Johns isn't even over-subscribed!! I understand both these schools are very good...

So, has this problem gone away in this area? Or is this just a glitch for this year? Have the extra places at St Johns alleviated the problem? Or are there a group of disgruntled parents, not having been allocated places who are remaining strangely quiet???

Please share your thoughts/experiences!

I expect it's due to the extra class in the Bishop Road primary school, which will have taken some pressure off all the other schools in the area.

I think the 60 at St Ursula's has had a bit of a knock on effect too. Think the problem has just moved to other parts of Bristol though.

That's true, Run - We're in St George and I've just worked out that we live further away than the furthest successful non-sibling place allocated for 2012 at all of the nearest four schools and are ineligible for a fifth on grounds of religion.

All the schools I'm taling about are in a mile radius from my house Confused

I'm screwed
