Depends on the area etc
Could your kids stay on at the school they're already at?

No, too far alas. Options would be to put on waiting list and then home school or bus to a further away school (if available!). I wonder how long we'd have to be on the waiting list though...
We may not get the house though-will hopefully find out tomorrow and then start panicking!

is there no possibility of appeal? When I needed a P1 and P6 place, we wrote directly to the Council, in addition to the school. Good luck!

Thank you. We have put an offer in but not heard back yet. Bit terrified of not having a school place though. Half hoping they don't accept but in a complete state of turmoil and stress now. Would an appeal work if just moving into the area?
I have never felt so sick in my life!!

It would possibly depend on the school. Some schools loose children from around P3. One child in dd's class had to travel by 2 buses to our school for a year after moving and missing out on the last p1 place. They then moved back to the area and then got offered a place at the other school.

The kids had not even moved to Edinburgh when we were negotiating with the Council and Sciennes Primary. It worked :)

Thanks both-rang back today and found they WOULD be able to give her a place after summer if in catchment. On the bad luck side of things our offer was rejected and then an offer on a house in another area was rejected! Have agreed on a sale for ours so starting to panic now!
