York Medical Practice or Twickenham Park Surgery - which is better

Good morning,
I'm trying to decide whether to move from Twickenham Park Surgery to the York Medical Practice. I've always been fairly happy with Twickenham Park, but York would be a lot closer for us. I'd be grateful to hear from anyone who is with the York practice - are you happy with them, is it easy to get an appointment?
many thanks in advance

If you flick back to threads from January you'll see a similar one that I started. Two people replied and their feedback was positive (sorry no idea how to link from phone). My initial impressions have been good too; I haven't seen a dr yet but spoke to a friendly one the day after my homebirth. Dh took dd to one and thought he was good. They hold appointments back to be booked on the day and in an emergency you can speak to a dr who can release slots - haven't had first hand experience of the latter yet though.

I've been with York Medical Practice since moving to the area 2 years ago, had all my pre- and post-natal appointments there, DS has had all his jabs there and I'm very happy with them. The Drs are very good and I've had to make use of the emergency appoitments on a couple of occasions and the duty doctor always called me back pretty much straight away and has released slots ASAP for DS. There is also a great post-natal group upstairs (actually not part of York Rd but St John's Health Centre) where they have the baby clinic etc. Re normal appointments it's fairly easy to get one on the day if you ring at 8am.

Hope that helps.

Hi, I know this is taking the topic in the opposite direction, but could anyone give me their thoughts on Twickenham Park Surgery? What are the doctors like? How hard is it to get an appointment? (We're moving to East Twickenham area this summer, and want to make sure I choose the right surgery for my DD who's 1 yo.)

Thanks for the help!

Hi,
I went to Twickenham Park Surgery to register, as it was the closest one. First impression? Two old ladies staring at you as if you owe them million dollars! When I asked how to register they just gave me the documents and showed me the door! Nice! I went to NHS website and compared both. There is a place where people rate local practices. And lots of people were complaining about it. How difficult it is to make an appointment & forget abt the emergency ones. Then I talked to the neibours who live here for 40 + years. And they recommended the York Medical. I went and registered the whole family there. WHAT A GREAT DECISION! Since we had to see them quite often (emergency appointments mostly, doctor called right back and called us in the same day). So even if it is a little bit further. But I prefer to have a helpful surgery in stead of some mal educated grumpy ones...
