Muswell Hill primary schools - advice on catchment areas

We live in the area at the moment, and have a 3 year old. Considering moving to a bigger flat on Onslow Gardens (i.e. opposite Highgate Wood) but am worried that it seems to be just out of the catchments of all the local primaries - seems to be a bit too far from Tetherdown, Muswell Hill, Highgate etc. If anyone lives in or knows the area well and can advise, I would be very grateful! Which primary schools do children who live in this general area (i.e. Onslow/Woodland Gardens, Woodland Rise etc) go to?!
Thanks.

Hi joanne

I can't help I'm afraid as I am in the same situation although looking for schools in another area of Haringey.

How did you find out how close you have to live to the schools in order to have a good chance of getting your kids in?

I can't get anything out of the Haringey website!

TIA

If you ring Haringey council, they will be able to tell you how far the furthest person was who got into the school in the previous year. And also ring individual schools and ask what the chances are. No one can give you a firm answer (as it depends on how many applicants, siblings etc) but should be able to give you some idea.

If you are CofE or Catholic look at the faith schools in MH - will def get into them as catchment by default is wider.

I have friends with kids at both and hear great things about both of them. They may not get the top stats every year, but to be honest all schools in MH are great so you are talking little differences. They're both very caring communities and kids lovely

OP, you're too far from Tetherdown and Muswell Hill Primary, but there are some very good schools in Crouch End too - could you be in their catchment area in Onslow Gardens?

But your nearest school is St James CofE Primary - right next to Highgate Wood. It's rated "outstanding" and having visited it looks really nice. If you start going to St James Church you will probably get a place.
