Letting agent recommendations

Has anybody had any good experiences with local letting agents and what is the going rate for fully managed, does anybody know? I've let a property before and it was such a hassle even with the fully managed service. Thanks!

my landlord doesn't use a agencey - he advertises on the university property site - says he goes slightly below market rates but gets good tenants

my Dad goes through the university and has never had any issues, but he is then on call when the heating breaks etc.

We use Russells, thye have always been good (they have looked after the house we have through them for 10 years) we have been without a tennant for max 3 weeks in betweeen tennants and that was at our request so that we could decorate and change the carpets.

Going through the university is a good idea - you won't get undergraduates, just postgrads and staff. I also like Pocock and Shaw.

That's not strictly true Don, you may get mature undergrads if you go through the University Accommodation Service :)

What I meant was, you're unlikely to get eight 18 year olds who've never boiled an egg or done their own cleaning before...

I am currently renting through St Andrews Bureau and have found them to be quite responsive. I am a satisfied tenant anyway, if that's any sort of recommendation.
