Hello, I'm thinking about doing a car boot sale- probably the Sunday one at the Cambridge City FC grounds (off Milton Road).

Has anyone tried it- either selling or buying? I have lots of good quality but surplus to requirement things to sell- mainly clothing & kids' items.

I haven't done one recently but I used to do car boots around Cambs/Beds and they were quite good fun. My sister-in-law and mum-in-law do loads of them - I'm not sure if they've done the City FC ground one though.

If you've never done one before, watch out for other buyers who can descend on your car as you pull up asking if you've got things like DVDs for sale and they'll try and buy them off you cheap and then sell them on their stall for a pound or two more. My sis-in-law has also had things stolen out of her boot while she was setting up her stall - take a friend if possible - two pairs of eyes are better than one.

Pretty much anything goes but they sometimes have a ban on plants (one of the ones I used to go to was owned by a farm shop so they didn't want people selling the same things they sold) and often don't allow you to sell food for health and safety reasons (and so you don't upset the owner of the ubiquitous burger van!!!).
