Anyone know what Kirkliston is like?

I've always thought of Kirkliston as a sort of a noisy place- it's right beside the M9, the main road from Edinburgh from Fife and worst of all the airport so planes come in very low. Other than that it seems a nice village. They've built new houses there so some people obviously don't mind that. I suppose it's handy for all the main roads.

Thanks for that.Any idea what the schools are like and what to do round and about the area?

I don't know what the schools are like- the nearest secondary school would be Queensferry High.

It's sort of a feeder village for Edinburgh so there wouldn't be much to do in the village itself although it's got a Co-op and some shops. On one side it's basically all roads and motorways and the industrial estates on the edge of Edinburgh and on the other it's got quite picturesque countryside running down to the Forth and over towards Linlithgow.
We are in Livingston and we go over there to Craigie's Farm Cafe which is nice.
Where are you moving from and what sort of area are you looking for?

The nursery is separate from the school but has good staff and 3 year olds go in the morning and 4 year olds go in the afternoon.

The main complaint I've heard is having to have a car as bus services are pretty poor and don't match up to what people need. The only people who haven't stayed out there have been ones who don't have their own car.

I quite like the drive out from Corstorphine.

We will be moving from the borders. We have two daughters in Edinburgh one a medical student the other working and a son of 18 with learning difficuties who wil have better opportunites in Edinburgh for supported work and a 7 year old boy. My husband also works in Edinburgh so we feel it will be more convenient to live in or closer to the city center.

Just wondering what is it that is attracting you to Kirkliston?
