Any suggestions or recommendations would be great, I havent managed to get any feedback or hints so far. Also, baby not due for couple weeks+ but is it wise to look for nursery at this stage?

I would get looking now, as some places have long waiting lists.

DH works at Little France, and we use Little Monkeys in Kilmaurs Rd. I'd highly recommend them. There is a nursery on site at Little France, but it's v expensive and doesn't get a good name.

There's a new one opened at the Sheriff Hall park and ride, ChapterOne, Shawfair nursery. My dc go to one of their other nurseries and we have been very happy there. If that one is too far away they have the Kirk Brae nursery which is 10mins from Little France. I started looking before dc1 was born.

My friend uses Little Monkey's too, she had 3 weeks notice of returning to work and it was the only place which had a place. I couldn't get a place in my own baby room due to the waiting list for the 6 places and ended up not returning as I couldn't find the right place for dd. I'd start looking now otherwise you may end up struggling to find a place.

I looked around at a few in that area and really didn't like the Little France site one. We very hurriedly found 3 lovely ones at Gilmerton Crossroads and would have been happy at any of them. My ds is at Blossom Tree Nursery and loooooves it. Really small with only 19 children, lovely garden and great activities. I definitely recommend.
