40 soon in Edinburgh - any ideas?

Hi, I am 40 in a few weeks and have a 2 year old so I've not had a social life for a while :) I had always planned to go to NY for my 40th but now I'm not keen to leave my DD, why would I celebrate without her?
Anyway, my family are keen to come to Edinburgh to celebrate but our flat is not big enough for everyone, does anyone know of cottages nearby to house 6 adults, 2 teenagers and a 2-year old?
Thought about a meal at the Dakota but cannot get accommodation nearby as it is a rugby weekend :(
I don't want the day to pass without celebrating in style!!

How about a b and b in Edinburgh?

Could you make it the next weekend so your options are ruled out by rugby?

There are a number of really nice apartment hotels, so a flat within a building. I have stayed at the ones on Queen Street www.bluerainbowapartments.com/edinburgh-apartments/ and it was always great.

Swanston Golf Course have some cottages to rent. They're very nice.
