Bookclubs for mums

Hie. We've just moved to Godalming almost a week ago. I was hoping to join or start a bookclub for mums , maybe something where we meet up on a monthly basis once the little ones have gone to bed. If anyone knows of any bookclubs (i've checked the one in waterstones but they start at 6:15pm and thats still a bit early for me to be able to leave the house..) or is interested in joining one then pls do let me know. We could meet in a cafe or restaurant i.e. a public place, until we get to know each other and confirm we're not Trevor the Trucker ;)

I have been thinking the same thing mumtoone! My new years resolution is to do something sociable just for me! I have a 2 year old and a 10 week old - as soon as the smallest one is going down reliably in the evenings I'd love to be involved - maybe help set one up if noone posts about anything locally?

Hi notnigella33..thats great ! i used to be part of a bookclub where we lived earlier and it was really fun to meet up with a group of mums on a monthly basis to discuss a book and also have a nice evening out.

Will let this thread run for a while more and hope there are more of you who would be interested...do reply !

mumtoone78 - great idea! I too have been looking to join a bookclub (brain is steadily turning to mush being at home all day), and the Waterstones one is way too early for me. My kids are much older than yours, but if you don't mind an older mum joining you, I'm definitely game.

It is a good way for us to get out of the house and talk about other things not just kids...though knowing us mums thats the main topic of discussion whenever we get together anyway !!

Right..I'll give this till tomorrow and then will post my email address...so everyone can email me back and we can take the details of where/when we meet offline...hope thats ok....

I could be interested too..again depends on where and when really. I'm in Guildford with kids similar ages to yours Nigella, so a slightly later meet time would suit me perfectly.

My reading has plummeted since I stopped commuting so would be good to have an incentive again!
