Morningside Library has re-opened

I vaguely have the feeling this is ahead of schedule. In any case, it looks very nice, but not obviously structured, maybe still a bit sterile. No leaflets, no message board, no magazine exchange tub (yet?). There are toilets now (happy dance). We were there today just before closing and the personnel looked positively frazzled.

I am just happy the library is back....

And I'm so disappointed Sad. I'd rather have the old kids section back please....buckets to collect the rain and all. Whoever designed this space obviously doesn't have kids

Whoever designed this space obviously doesn't have kids

I was thinking that, because there are kids' books in the main section as well and anyone with kids of different ages cannot supervise them all at the same time... also, there is too much traffic (e.g. to the toilets) across the small kids bit that could be considered a safety issue...

Toilets way too far away too - I would have to take all of mine there rather than leave the older ones on their own for a few seconds. Pure chaos today with major buggy crashes going on trying to get through shelving and past each other. My kids thought all the new seats were soft play too. Also now I have to worry about their volume as we're on 'the main room - I didn't worry before and than was why I liked morningside over all others. Bit gutted

Both DDs v. disappointed with new children's area - they demanded that it be returned to its old spot!! Feels like they spent too much painting fancy quotes on the walls and thought that would do the job...
