Areas to live in?

I'm in a house share until March. Potentially looking at getting either a bedsit or studio after that (and if not, another hosueshare). We're currently in Bevendean which suits us well, close to the uni for DP, close to Moulsecoomb station for me to get to one job (in Lewes) and relatively easy for me to drive to my other job in Saltdean. We want to live somewhere with the same kind of transport links (I have to drive for the Saltdean job, but don't want to drive in my free time or for my other work!) and close to the uni (but he's happy to go via bus as long as there are direct ones within a 5/10min walk either side). Preferably not in a party-area and also where we don't have to wait for a parking permit on the car which I need for work.

Got any suggestions? We only moved down here in September so don't know the areas!

If you want to be closer to the centre of Brighton you could try the roads around London Road Rail station (such as Springfield Road, Shaftesbury Road, Florence Road etc)- within walking distance of centre and seafront, 2 stops on train to Falmer and free parking (although you can't always get parked in your street depending on the time of day)Shops on London Road and the Duke of York's on the doorstep, nice Victorian Houses. You can also walk to the mainline station too.

Or Hanover. Bus routes from the Lewes Road for uni and also to Lewes (though not as quick as the train). Hanover's great, lots of lovely pubs and community feel.
