New to Exeter - where to live?

Hi, posted this in Chat but thought I might get more reponse here -

DP has just accepted a job in Exeter, so we are relocating!

Just been browsing Rightmove. Think I'm a bit overwhelmed at the prospect of relocation. If any of you can suggest a nice place to live, or any advice on what it's like to live in Exeter, I would be grateful! Also, what's the area of St Leonards like? (seen a nice looking house there....)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions! I'm still a bit shocked..

St Leonard's is nice :) It's been a while since I knew Exeter really well so not sure where else to suggest. Loved growing up there tho.

All depends if you want to live in the city or in one of the villages on the outskirts

I suppose, for mimimum commute time, in the city would be preferable... glad to hear a good word for St Leonards!

st.leonards is nice, the "posh" housing i suppose. has its own little arcade of artisan type stores, and yet is a 5 minute walk from town, or the quay/river. probably the most expensive area in the city mind.

We live in Heavitree and it is great, and has toddler groups coming out of its ears as well as some good schools. Not as posh as St Leonards, but we like it that way...

Hi everybody, we are also looking at relocating to Exeter and wanting to be more in town rather than outside. However we'll need to be very close to a good secondary school. Would you please recommend a couple? Not private please.
Many thanks.
