South Morningside Primary school or St Peters

I am not quite yet in the neighbourhood but the plan is to move early next year to Morningside, Edinburgh. My DS is 6.5 years old but we are moving from Switzerland so he has only attended Kindergarten so far.
I would hopefully be looking at a primary 1 place for him in either of the above schools.
Can anyone give me any reccommendations please.

my recommendation is not to put him into P1, put him age appropriately. He is going to catch up in no time. You can get some Oxford Reading Tree books now and work with your son over the holidays and then put him into P2 after your move.

Our neighbours' daughter is in SM and happy.

Good luck /viel Glück!

First of all, I'd give each school a call to see if they have places and go from there. As Cath said P2 would be the appropriate age group.

I would speak to the school. I know children who have gone into P2 but been moved to P1 because they just couldn't cope with the pace as they couldn't write etc.

I'd be contacting the school or placement services for advice. Both are quite over subscribed schools and places can be hard to come by.
