hi, we have just moved to tw from south east london, arrived 4 weeks ago and just finished unpacking and getting our bearings. we have a DS of 4 years old and a baby DS of 10 mths and both me and DH work full time. we therefore have a nanny and the 4 year old also goes to Rocking Horse nursery. we live in the st james area and are renting until we wokr out where we would like to buy as we werent very familiar with the area when we moved.

i have been reding lots of threads on here about mums meeting up and going to groups but i am not sure whether these are just for SAHMs or whether working mums/parents go too? are there any groups or social events at weekends/holidays? i would really appreciate any advice about how to meet people with similar age kids, or just like minded people really. we have already found TW to be SO friendly but as we work full time it is difficult to really get stuck into things. we have tended to wander to parks and cafes at the weekends so far and we are having a lovely time but i would like the kids to be able to play with and make friends. i know it will happen when the 4 year old goes to school next september but thats a long time to wait and i am scared even then we might not meet people as we will rarely be taking them to school, which makes me sad but there's not much we can do about it as we have our own business and it needs us both.

i am also keen to find some appropriate groups/activities/play dates for the nanny to go to, she is also new to TW so it is the blind leading the blind!

does anyone have any advice or finds themselves in a similar situation? how do working parents easily meet up with other families?

any advice greatly appreciated!

thanks
x

Hi suepoopats
We are moving from London to the St James area in three weeks time.
I work part time and I don't know anyone in the area.
My au pair will be new to area as well, she looks after our DD & DS 3&5.
Maybe your nanny would like to go to the park with her one day?
